When I first started bullet journaling, I was overwhelmed by all the stationery options out there—pens, notebooks, markers, stencils… you name it. Over time, I’ve tested a ton of supplies, made a few mistakes (hello, ghosting ink!), and finally narrowed it down to my absolute favorites.
Whether you're a minimalist planner or a creative doodler, these tools have seriously leveled up my journaling game.
Here’s my top 10 list of bullet journal stationery I can’t live without—each one tried, tested, and totally worth it.
Journals
My number one Bullet journaling notebook is without a doubt-
LEUCHTTURM- it is the perfect A5 size, includes the must-have dotted pages, they're durable (barely any sign that I had carried mine around in my bag for a full year), plus they come in lots of wonderful colors. This is the classic bullet journal pick for a reason—great paper quality, numbered pages, and a handy index. It’s my go-to for structured, everyday journaling.
Find the 1917version on Amazon here or if you're looking for a more curated bullet journal (including BuJo specific features such as a Bullet Key, Index, and Future Log), you can't go wrong with the The Official Bullet Journal Edition 2 by Leuchtturm.

Other Journal contenders are-
Yop & Tom Dot Grid Journal- Vegan leather bound, with ultra-thick 160gsm paper is a dream if you love using markers, brush pens, or even watercolor. It includes pre-printed pages including index, key and page numbers. Find it on amazon here.
EMSHOI Dotted Journal Notebook- A more budget-friendly alternative with 320 pages of good paper and a vegan leather cover. Find it on amazon here.
Pens & Markers
Pigma Micron Fineliners are my number 1 must haves. I use these for layouts and line work. They’re archival quality, waterproof, and come in multiple nib sizes. Find them on Amazon here.
Tombow Dual Brush Pens These are my favorite for adding color and doing brush lettering. Tons of beautiful shades and a smooth blend. You can purchase them here.
Muji 0.38mm Gel Pens Clean, crisp, and minimal. I love how smoothly they write—especially in black or deep blue. You can find them on amazon here.
Mildliner Highlighters by Zebra Perfect for color-coding and accenting without overpowering the page. The color palette is so soft and aesthetic. You can purchase them here.
Stencils and Other Essentials
Washi Tape (Assorted Styles) Great for adding visual interest, taping in photos, or even fixing mistakes. I always keep a few rolls in my kit. Such as these ones.
Reusable Stencils for Bullet Journaling I resisted stencils for a while, but they save so much time when I want clean icons or evenly spaced boxes. Such is these habit tracker stencils or these daily layout/spreads stencils from Sunny Streak.
T-Square Ruler A small, flat T-square helps me draw straight lines faster than a regular ruler. It’s surprisingly game-changing for spreads.
At the end of the day, the most important thing is to have fun with your bullet journal. It doesn’t have to be perfect, color-coordinated, or Insta-worthy—what matters is that it works for you and brings you joy. Whether you're using fancy pens or just a pencil and a plain notebook, give yourself permission to experiment, make mistakes, and enjoy the creative process.
